About

Judy Pfaff, De lumi e obra

The title came from Pfaff's interest in Leonardo da Vinci's writings and drawings. "De Lumi e Obra" means "of light and shadow" in English.

Of Light & Shadow was created to join our tradition of survival and of wayfinding. To offer the lanterns that have guided me. To join the poets, artists, writers, thinkers—the broken and the wounded—and try to share with you that ancient song they are all singing somehow. How we save each other again and again.

As I find my way in becoming a practitioner of bittersweetness, as I am learning to befriend impermanence, to admit into our belonging all the broken places—I offer this site as a reference library for the full circumference of all suffering and sweetness. I hope it will help us discover all the ways we are not alone. All the ways we belong.

As Anne Lamott often quotes Ram Dass, “We’re all just walking each other home.” This is my outstretched arm to you, along my little stretch of road, full of light and shadow.
